AIMM Praise and Prayer July - August 2011 Botswana Pray for Mennonite Church Canada's pending new Botswana workers (as yet unnamed) as they begin to take initial steps towards a mission assignment.
Pray for Melanie Quinn (Mennonite Mission Network), currently on North American assignment visiting churches and taking time for rest and renewal.
Pray for Kitso and Matt from King's Foundation Botswana who are taking over some administrative duties related to AIMM properties and ministries in Gaborone. Pray that the handover from previous administrator would be completed and that the new arrangement would work well going forward. Burkina Faso Praise God for renewed calm in Burkina Faso. Pray that going foward the country's leaders could genuinely take into account the aspirations of recent country-wide protests.
Pray that the mayor of Ouagadougou would provide a plot of land for the Mennonite church in Ouagadougou upon which they could then build a student foyer and a church.
Pray for current theological students from the Burkina Faso Evangelical Mennonite Church as they prepare for ministry- Fabe Traore, finishing his last year at the CMA theological school in Abidjan, Cote d'lvoire; Kari Traore, in his second year at a Baptist school in Lome, Togo; Emmanuel Traore at Poundou Bible Institute; and Joseph Sinou at Maranatha Bible Institute.
Pray for Jeff and Tany Warkentin (Mennonite Church Canada) and their family as they visit churches, and as they begin to make the adjustment from Burkina FAso to life in Canada. Pray for the Mennonite Church of Ouagadougou as they adjust to life without the Warkentins.
Pray for Anne Garber Kompaore's ministry in Burkina Faso and beyond. Anne has resigned from Mennonite Church Canada effective August 31. She is continueing her work as a freelance Bible translation consultant. Pray that her work would continue to be a blessing to many, and that her needs would be adequately provided for.
DR Congo Praise God for the writers who are putting together stories for the 2012 Centennial Book - Vincent Ndandula and Beleji Mwethi Jackson of CMCO, and Jean-Felix Mpoyi of CEM. Pray that these stories would provide hope, inspiration and vision for believers in North America and Congo
Praise God for the recent visit to the USA of Pastor Benjamin Mubenga, President of the Evangelical Mennonite Church of Congo, and also President of AIMM's International Central Council; and also for the visit to Canada and the USA of Pastor Damien Pelende, President of the Mennonite Brethren Church of Congo. The Pastors issued invitations to interested North Americans to attend the Congo Mennonite Centennial celebrations planned for July 2012 in Tshikapa and Mbuji Mayi.
Praise the Lord that the water system supplies which Hope for Congo helped to purchase in January 2011 in Kinshasa and shipped to Ndjoko Punda, have finally arrived at their destination. Pray that the installation of the system would go well.
Pray for the upcoming yearly gathering of the "Congo Collaboration Group", planned for August 27-28 in Morton, Illinois at Grace Church.
Pray that concrete plans would be laid in a timely manner for the upcoming July 16-26, 2012 Congo Mennonite Centennial celebrations.
South Africa Pray for Andrew and Karen Suderman (Mennonite Church Canada), for the teaching Andrew is doing at the Evangelical Seminary in South Africa (in Pietermaritzburg) and for the developing relationships in the Anabaptist Network. Pray for Joe and Anna Sawatsky (Mennonite MIssion Network) as they visit churches in North America over the summer. Pray for Phil and Christine Lindell Detweiler (Mennonite MIssion Network) as they move toward the end of their ministry in South Africa in December 2011.
Office Pray for local congregations in the USA and Canada would desire increased contact with AIMM.
Praise God that Pastor Mubenga did receive a visa and was able to visit the USA from June 28 through July 9. Give thanks for the many persons who received us, extended hospitality and encouraged us as we visited in Kansas, Nebraska, Minnesota, Iowa, Indiana and Pennsylvania.
Praise the Lord for the recent successful visit by Jim Bertsche and Roelif Badertscher to the Fellowship of Evangelical Bible Churches' convention in Mountain Lake, MN.
Pray that a good solution would be found for our translation needs for the Congo Story Gathering project.
